Harbinger Needles drop from Harbingers, which you can optionally fight after killing timeline bosses. When equipped, a Harbinger Needle causes a boss kill above 90 corruption to Last Epoch gold grant three additional stacks of Gaze of Orobyss.
Since four stacks is the maximum, this means every boss kill effectively counts as four boss kills' worth of gaze. Even better, Harbingers frequently drop replacement Needles and additional Glyphs of Envy, making the process largely self-sustaining.
Shades of Orobyss
Shades normally spawn further from the center of a timeline, which can slow corruption progression if you're repeatedly farming bosses near the core. This is where the Weaver Tree comes in.
Using the Weaver Tree to Spawn Shades Faster
The Weaver Tree contains nodes that massively improve Shade availability. The most important one is Confluence of Oblivion, which allows Shades of Orobyss to spawn when a new echo web is generated-regardless of how far you've pushed outward.
This means you can repeatedly farm bosses near the center, regenerate the web, and still encounter Shades without expanding the timeline.
Supporting Weaver Tree nodes like Looming Riches and Woven Riches further improve efficiency, but Confluence of Oblivion is the lynchpin of the strategy.
The Optimal Corruption Farming Loop
Once everything is set up, the gameplay loop becomes extremely efficient:
Use Glyphs of Envy to rapidly gain stability.
Unlock and kill the timeline boss as soon as possible.
Equip a Harbinger Needle before the kill to gain extra gaze stacks.
Fight the Harbinger for additional drops and resource refunds.
Complete a nearby echo to regenerate the web.
Hunt Shades of Orobyss spawned through the Confluence of Oblivion.
Repeat.
This loop allows you to stack corruption at a pace far faster than traditional outward-pushing strategies, while also maximizing boss loot and Harbinger rewards.
